2011 saw the publication of more of Donal’s translations.
New Swiss Writing 2011, the fourth such annual anthology, appeared in April. Donal again translated the German-language authors, which means he has now translated over 100 Swiss authors for these volumes.
My Mother’s Lover (Seagull) – Donal’s translation of Urs Widmer’s much-loved novel Der Geliebte der Mutter – appeared in June and was soon nominated for the Newton First Book Award of the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
Donal’s translation of Urs Widmer’s Das Buch des Vaters - My Father’s Book - followed in November (also published by Seagull).
